The People´s Deputies stressed that the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women is one of the major international documents ratified by Ukraine.
The Committee members believe that regular reports of Ukraine on the Convention implementation boost governmental activity aimed at the protection of women´s rights, improvement of their status and provision of gender equality.
In particular, the Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sports was set up in 1996 as the result of reports and for realization of the UN recommendations.
According to the People´s Deputies, the Committee intended to discuss implementation of the recommendations of UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women given after the national report of Ukraine.
